Admission Requirements
In order to qualify for admission, you must be a first-time freshman who has not been enrolled full-time at any institution of higher learning (i.e., community college or any four-year university). Transfer students do not qualify.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Minimum 3.8 high school GPA (grades 9-11, weighted or unweighted)
- Ranking in the top 10% of your high school graduating class
Steps to Apply
Cal State Apply Application (Mandatory) — October 1 to December 1, 2025. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply in early October.
- After submitting your application online, you should receive email notification of your conditional enrollment that includes your 9-digit Fresno State identification number, and instructions for setting up your Fresno State email account. You will need to set up your email account to access the Fresno State scholarship portal.
- You will not be allowed to proceed to the next step before completing this application.
In order to access the Fresno State scholarship portal, you must have received a Fresno State Student I.D. number and activated your MyFresnoState account with a valid email address. All scholarship applicants must use their Fresno State username and password to access the scholarship application.
Fresno State's General Scholarship Application (Mandatory) — Must be submitted by December 11, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. PST.
- Completing the General Scholarship Application may result in additional scholarships aside from the President's Honors Scholarship. As such, students are highly encouraged to fill out this application with equal care.
- Applicants can complete the Smittcamp Family Honors Scholarship Application concurrently with Fresno State's General Scholarship Application.
