PHS Housing Stipend

The President's Honors Scholarship (PHS) housing stipend is only awarded to scholars who live on-campus through Fresno State Student Housing. Scholars who live at home or in off-campus accomodations are not eligible to receive the stipend.

For the 2025-26 AY, the value of this stipend has been set at $6,175 (Fall 2025 = $3,088; Spring 2026 = $3,087). The PHS housing stipend is paid directly from the Financial Aid and Scholarships office to the Student Housing office. It is not paid out to the student. For the PHS housing stipend to be awarded to your student account, you must:

  • Complete the Student Housing application (usually due by June 30th each academic year).
  • Indicate which term(s) you will be living in the dorms (Academic Year, Fall Semester, Spring Semester).

IMPORTANT: If a scholar defers their Fall semester housing but does not indicate that they will be returning as a resident for the Spring semester (as in the case of studying abroad or taking a leave of absence), they will not be able to access the PHS housing stipend and will have to pay the full cost out of pocket.

What Does the PHS Housing Stipend Cover?

Covers Does NOT Cover
  • The cost of a community double dorm
  • Housing application fee
  • Initial down payment
  • Meal plan

Scholars are not obligated to live in a community double and may opt to live in other room types. For room options that are more expensive than the community double, the difference in cost must be covered by the scholar. For room options that are less expensive than the community double (such as the 2 Bedroom Suite - Triple or the Community Triple), any excess scholarship funds will be applied toward the meal plan.
