Academic Affairs - Foundation Funding Request

To prioritize investment in meeting strategic goals, the Provost Office is allocating non-state funds to provide support for faculty professional development. Colleges and departments should continue their policies and practices on how this fund is allocated to faculty. The total allocation to each college is based on the same funding formula as in 2023-24: the total number of full-time equivalent tenured/tenure track faculty x $1,000.

State funds cannot be used to augment this line item, but colleges have the discretion to use foundation resources to further supplement faculty professional development, if available and approved by the dean.

The Office of IDEAS has faculty professional development funds (non-state) in various student success or faculty excellence programs that all faculty can apply for, and that funding can be used in conjunction with the above-mentioned PD issued from the Provost Office.

Fresno State South Valley campus has limited professional development funding for faculty who teach classes at the Visalia campus. This funding (non-state) can also be combined with either or both of the above.

New faculty start-up funds may be used for travel (within the parameters of the start-up funds agreement) but must be swapped with non-state sources. Colleges can work with the Academic Resources Office (ARO) to make that exchange.

To standardize procedures for travel on non-state funds, the ARO has prepared a new form for travel applications. Included below are both the link to access Academic Affairs - Foundation Funding Request Kuali form as well as instructios on how to complete it.
