GET STARTED

  • Check the Fresno State's Coronavirus Information website and your department often for updates
  • Communicate with your students right away
  • Review your syllabus and course schedule to determine priorities and expectations
  • Pick tools and approaches familiar to you and your students

COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR STUDENTS

  • Use Canvas as a central meeting point
  • Communicate regularly with your student through Canvas Announcement or the Inbox tool
  • Set expectations of how often you will be sending messages and how quickly you will reply

DISTRIBUTE COURSE MATERIALS

  • Upload presentations, readings, videos, and other content to Canvas for student access
  • Create a logical structure in Canvas by Week/Topic/Type
  • Be sure students know where to access new content

CONDUCT CLASS ONLINE

  • Consider using Zoom to conduct online synchronous class sessions or hold online office hours
  • Record class presentations using Zoom, Screencast-o-matic, Camtasia or similar and share through Canvas

COLLECT ASSIGNMENTS AND ASSESS LEARNING

  • Use Canvas tools (Assignments, Quizzes, Discussion Boards) for student submissions instead of email attachments
  • State expectations but be ready to allow extensions
  • Pick tools that your students are familiar with
  • Use SpeedGrader and Rubrics to grade and provide feedback
