Skill Development
The most engaging, measurable, and lasting learning experience in service learning will often be those experiences providing tangible skill development. Nursing students providing shots or taking blood pressure, construction engineer students building a home for Habitat for Humanity or a marketing student designing a campaign to feed the hungry are all transferable skills students will employ in their careers. An innovative instructor will identify all these transferable skills at the outset in order for students to learn them properly and practice them effectively.
