Aradhana Elisa |
Bio I am Aradhana Elisa from India, currently pursuing my Masters in computer science from Fresno state. I joined OIE in spring 2017, and have been a part of the Student Fellows Program since then. I earned my Bachelors degree in 2014 which was also in computer science from India. After completing my Bachelors I worked as an Application Engineer for two years. My research interests include machine learning, data predictions, predictions for student success rates and the factors affecting the student success rate. Project Description I have worked on a number of projects such as creating a mobile accessible version of the university's Quickfacts page, answering the data requests, creating web interfaces involving Qualtrics and Twitter API for dashboarding using my computer programming skills. |
Thuy Nguyen |
Bio Thuy Nguyen is an international student from Hochiminh city, Vietnam. She's currently in her last semester of Master of Education program. She had taught English as a second language for two years in Vietnam. Her research interests are K-12 education equity, school accountability, social justice, college readiness, how to narrow achievement gaps and instructional support for college students. Project Description Her work as a student research assistant at Fresno State OIE is to use different tools such as Tableau 10, Access and R to visualize K-20 education pipeline, teacher assignments and student enrollment and graduation data. The dashboards provide some insights on gender differences, achievement gap, resources allocation in terms of demographical and regional levels. |
Angela Cooper |
Bio My name is Angela Cooper, and I am a Masters student in the General/Experimental program for Psychology, and earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Fresno State. Working towards my Bachelor's degree at Fresno State sparked an interest in research, and I have since continued to further my education and understanding of research. My thesis examines the differences in personal levels of student engagement in online and face to face introductory statistics courses at Fresno State. Project Description My work with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness will include analyzing different aspects of Fresno State's data for the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). |
Cory Cowan |
Bio My name is Cory Cowan. I am a Master's student in the General Experimental Psychology program. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Fresno State and decided to continue my education here. My thesis is on olfactory imagery and the encoding specificity principle. Project Description During my time at OIE, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including the creation of a survey to measure first year first time freshman's sense of belonging and a brief on first generation students that is in progress. The main project I have been working on is the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) First Year Experience (FYE) project. For this project, I have been working with multiple surveys and the data that comes from them. I created a dashboard in Tableau from part of the survey data. I am currently working on another set of data for the same project and the dashboard is in progress. |
Alexandra Nottbohm |
Bio My name is Alexandra Nottbohm, and I am a Master's student in the General/Experimental Psychology program. I started at Fresno State as a First-Time Freshman in 2012, where I took my first research class and found my passion for research and data analysis. Project Description During my time at the OIE, I have worked on a myriad of projects, including the creation of a survey designed to measure sense of belonging in first year First-Time Freshman at Fresno State. Additionally, I have been invovled in updated the Fresno State Hmong Student Profile, as well as examining retention adn graduate reates for Fresno State Hmong students. I have also created a Tableau dashboard for SupportNet, which visualizes retention rates and graduation rates for student sho attended SupportNet advising appointments. |
Shauna Dauderman |
Bio In addition to being an OIE Student Fellow, I am a Masters student in the General Experimental Psychology program at Fresno State. My hobbies include watching baseball and spending time with my cat. Project Description The Projects I've been working on at the OIE vary in content, but mostly have to do with student activity. Most recently, I worked on a project that examined which colleges students are enrolling in after Fresno State if they drop out. Another project examined how many students enrolled in PhD programs after graduating from Fresno State College of Science and Math Masters programs. I'm looking forward to many more fun projects along the way! |
